Hand Woven Baskets
The baskets displayed here are crafted in villages of Southeast Asia. Traditionally, they were
used for utilitarian and ceremonial purposes. Due to the influence of tourism, these beautiful baskets are now sold around the world. These sales have greatly improved the standard of living for the artisans and their families.
The process and quality have remained surprisingly consis-
tent over the years. There have been few changes in the types
of tools used. It can take up to
three months to finish a single basket, depending on its size
and shape. This includes drying
it under the sun and smoking it
in a coconut fiber and wood powder fire, resulting in a rich
color and pleasing aroma. The
end product is a durable and elegant accessory.
Like most businesses, we are currently not carrying a large inventory. Consequently not all baskets may be in stock but we
can order for delivery on the
next scheduled container.
